This role is integral to drive the Reputational Risk agenda and embed the Reputational Risk framework within key business processes and across markets.

The Director, Reputational Risk, ERM will :

  • Drive management of the Group’s reputation through robust implementation of effective reputational risk management and play a key role in oversight and challenge responsibilities for the second line of defence.
  • Work to embed the policy framework for management of reputational risk across the regions by drafting guidance on existing and emerging risks and providing training to key stakeholders across the regions.
  • Contribute to the development of and maturation of reputational risk practices to incorporate horizon scanning of emerging reputational risks to inform the business strategy of countries, region, and the Group.
  • Strategy

  • Support the delivery on a strategic approach for reputational risk whereby there is;Active management and oversight of primary and secondary risks through alignment of risk frameworks and policies and coordination with other second-line owners of risk with potential reputational risk impact.
  • Robust policies and procedures with enhanced training and guidance materials for the frontline and second-line risk owners, to drive consistent reputational risk assessment and reporting across the Group and enhanced consistency in risk identification and assessment.

    Assurance on the implementation of the Reputational Risk Framework, policy, and associated reputational risk processes.Critical oversight and challenge for risk areas aligned with Reputational Risk including : Environmental and Social Risk Management, Promoter Due Diligence, Defence and Dual Use Goods and Modern Slavery in the Supply Chain.

    Business

  • Drives efforts with the business to embed reputational risk considerations into first-line business processes.
  • Provide sufficient training for the businesses and CROs to adapt to and comply with the enhanced reputational risk management framework.
  • Processes

  • Support the maintenance of the process universe for Reputational Risk.
  • Support maintenance of formalized procedures and DOIs for all Reputational Risk processes and reporting.
  • Where required, support the operational risk requirements of risk areas aligned with Reputational Risk.
  • People and Talent

  • Help to build the appropriate culture and values. Work collaboratively with all relevant partners.
  • Risk Management

  • Uphold the integrity of risk / return decisions, by challenging business and country heads to demonstrate that risk origination and control decisions are properly informed and consistent with the reputational risk strategy and risk appetite.
  • Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness becomes apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and escalated through the relevant committees.
  • Represent Reputational Risk as a quorum and voting member of Client Review Committees provide Reputational Risk subject matter expertise and challenge.
  • Where required, act as the second-line for risk areas aligned to the Reputational Risk RTF and Policy. Review and challenge Standard generation and updates and review control environment for weakness.
  • Governance

  • Provide support across Reputational Risk, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and compliance practices as defined by internal and external requirements.
  • Embed the Group’s values and code of conduct in Reputational Risk.
  • Ensure that material risk exposures and related issues are reported to the responsible risk governance committees.
  • Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.

  • Our Ideal Candidate

  • Good knowledge of reputational risk management, or other risk-type management for financial services
  • Experience in a discipline relating to Environmental, Social or Governance risk
  • Experience working in a major international banking organisation.
  • Knowledge of financial and non-financial risks and trends.
  • Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills; comfortable in building relationships at senior levels and across teams, with outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Confident self-motivated person with a high level of drive and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
