DBS Foundation : As a corporate foundation in Asia solely dedicated to championing social entrepreneurship, DBS Foundation contributes towards building a more inclusive society in the region so that those at society’s margins can enjoy productive and rewarding lives.
DBS Foundation works with Social Enterprises and Social Entrepreneurs in Singapore, India, Indonesia, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong with programmes ranging from venture challenges, learning forums, intensive incubation, project grant support, financing and skilled volunteer mentoring.
DBS Foundation (DBSF) aims to :
Advocate for social enterprises (SEs) and businesses for good.
Nurture and strengthen innovative social enterprises in the DBSF network through financial support / grants, capacity building through support such as mentoring and skills-
based volunteering and networking opportunities.
Key Accountabilities :
The candidate will primarily lead and / or support programs of DBSF such as the DBSF grant programs / competitions / mentoring programs.
The candidate will also need to build relationships with SEs and partners, understanding their business needs, nurturing their growth and growing the community network in Singapore and in the region.
This position requires a team player, strategic thinker, affinity with start-ups, good marketing and communication skills.
A good understanding and passion for of the social entrepreneurship sector is required.
This position reports to the Head of DBS Foundation.
Specific Focus :
Self starter who is able to build relationships with the social enterprises and track their progress and needs.
Drive the nurturing of social enterprises to deepen DBS Foundation’s value to them. This includes designing and managing strategic mentoring programmes and skills-
based volunteer programmes that will help SEs’ to overcome business challenges.
Design communications to support programmes including managing internal & external communication platforms, marketing collaterals etc.
so that we can get support and participation from stakeholders.
Building internal and external networks including partnerships with DBS employees to identify ways to help provide business support and mentoring for the social enterprises.
Experience in developing incubation / mentorship programs would be an advantage.
General Focus :
Keep abreast with emerging trends in SE landscape in Asia. Help design events big and small that help SEs keep in touch with change and expectations.
Help in preparation of reports on SEs, Programmes and Partnerships on a regular basis.
Initiate, where needed, research and thought leadership activities that help to showcase DBSF as champion of SE - internally and externally.
Other support activities as needed for the Foundation / CSR team and related events.
Recognised degree related to Entrepreneurship / Management / Business / Communications / Technology or other relevant disciplines
Minimum 5 years work experience, with strong business and / or communications skills, with some experience in a start-
up environment, SME, a social investment / impact investment firm or similar. Volunteer or internship experience in the above should be highlighted.
New graduates will only be considered on an exception basis.
Ability to speak / write Mandarin will be an advantage for dealings with local social enterprises in China / Taiwan.
Must be able to work independently in a lean team, with minimal supervision
