Job Summary :

The APAC Network Operations Manager manages activities that impact customs brokerage operating across the region. He / She analyzes, designs, and implements key customs brokerage network initiatives through process and project management.

This position establishes goals and provides visibility tools to ensure results are achieved. He / She serves as a customs brokerage operations liaison in major cross-

functional projects. This position manages supervisors.

Roles & Responsibilities :

Leads Major Customs Brokerage Projects

Leads customs brokerage projects to provide operational improvement for maintaining productivity & cost to serve while mitigating risk.

Examines customer concerns to design process improvements, reduce churn, and increase organic growth.

Identifies key cross-functional stakeholders to raise awareness and drive process improvements.

Creates collaborative efforts across the organization to provide awareness of initiatives impacting customs brokerage operations.

Reviews customs brokerage operations intranet policies and procedures to ensure postings are current and provide operational consistency.

Drives projects in conjunction with strategic initiatives and network programs to ensure issues are identified and solutions implemented.

Serves As a Network Operations Advisor

Provides subject matter expertise on cross-functional projects to represent Customs Brokerage Network Operations.

Confers with Network partners (e.g., Package Operations, Air, Ocean, Supplier Management, Global Process Teams, etc.) to develop operational strategies, processes, and procedures.

Confers with Customs Brokerage Operations to seek collaborative input and advice.

Represents Network Operations for system changes and deployment to ensure business requirements are strategically aligned.

Serves as a focal point to provide Network Operations support and guidance.

Oversees Customs Brokerage Network Initiatives

Monitors network reports to deliver performance indices to senior management for review and analysis.

Conducts root cause analysis to improve quality and processes and enhance customer satisfaction.

Manages cross-functional activities to establish centralized programs for improving performance.

Collaborates with Customs Brokerage Industrial Engineering to conduct cost versus benefit analyses and produce recommendations for action.

Maintains awareness of service improvement opportunities to oversee continuous service improvements.

Creates and maintains operational controllership to establish a continuous improvement loop.

Serves as a liason with project teams to ensure training is disseminated to the field.

Manages and Develops Others

Manages resources and people processes (e.g., Performance Management, Career Development, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day to day administration of processes and formal procedures.

Identifies individual and team skill gaps and developmental opportunities (e.g., training, special assignments, conferences, projects, etc.

to facilitate individual and team development.

Ensures that direct and indirect reports have documented career goals and detailed plans for achieving these goals to develop them personally and professionally.

Conducts frequent performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to facilitate open communication and encourage continuous performance improvement.

Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.

Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS’s policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.

Coaches others and provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance.

Identifies opportunities to involve others in new and challenging work assignments and / or rotations that advance the skills and capabilities of individuals and the organization.

Job Requirements :

  • Minimum of 10 years operational experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of responsible leadership experiences in management or supervisory positions.
  • Demonstrates a complex knowledge of brokerage operations; considers the impact of brokerage operations on other parts of the business;
  • develops solutions to improve brokerage operations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact with different levels of people
