The Line Producer (APAC) is a senior management production role for Digital and VICE+ LOB across VICE APAC. This role will be accountable for the scoping, budgeting, crewing, execution oversight, and reporting of multiple projects simultaneously.
Project scope can vary from (but not limited to) video production, podcasts, events, exhibitions, still campaigns, TVC’s, and social media campaigns.
This role will be critical in ensuring the smooth functioning of the VICE video team & production across all internal projects, and designing best practices across Asia.
The Line Producer will work closely with the Head of Production, Executive Producer Digital, and local production leads across Asia to ensure we achieve the highest level of quality production in the most efficient way.
Scoping, budgeting and resourcing for commercial and topline original project budgets across the region.
Helping optimise day-to-day operations of the department
Optimising production resources across the region and across the digital line of business.
Delivering efficiencies through new and innovative work processes
Contribute to Monthly and annual cost reports for production regionally
Oversee vendor management and third party contracting for all VICE content
Maintain clear lines of communication with the regional production leads to ensure inter departmental efficiencies across the region, whilst helping to nurture a collaborative and unified production approach
Maintain a unified approach with vendors and freelancers by leveraging commercial opportunities with editorial requirements
Other duties that may arise time to time
Develop and maintain inter-regional workflows to facilitate successful delivery of pan-Asian pitch to execution processes between Sales, Strategy, Creative, client services and production departments.
Maintain margin control / driving profitability targets from budgeting through to delivery.
Scope & budget for pan-Asia pitches, and delegate to market specific production leads where appropriate
Maintain current working budgets for all projects to troubleshoot issues as they arise and guide projects to stay on track
Contract review and negotiation where applicable to ensure production requirements are protected.
Responsible for allocation of resources by market, or direct to vendor and / or third party freelancers as necessary
Develop strategies for meeting last minute high priority branded requests without affecting ongoing productions.
Work closely with regional and market finance leads regarding optimization of budget approach for all projects
Builds strong working relationships with the VICE global teams, to facilitate international production
Contribute to and maintain the APAC vendor and freelancer network database
Manage the cost report summary for reporting purposes
Negotiate and secure production vendor and freelancer deals that deliver quality services whilst ensuring maximum production efficiency across Asia
Monitor topline budgets and schedule for all productions (revising the schedule and budgets to ensure delivery schedule is maintained and annual budgets delivered)
Ensuring Finance & commercial teams are kept informed and regularly updated as appropriate
Oversee project budget spends and ensure timely budget tracking is maintained and amended as needed, to deliver the projects on time and on budget.
Ensuring vendors are paid within the stipulated time-frame to maintain best practices and good relationships
Assist local teams in planning and coordinating travel
Extensive experience with documentary content ranging from short form to long form content (Min 10 years production experience)
Proven experience delivering on a broad range of production budget values across international locations
Proven production experience across Asian markets (please provide examples)
Ability to handle a fast paced environment, simultaneously supporting several projects in various phases of production
Established network of vendors and crew / creative talent across the APAC region
Team-player who operates in a fast paced team-oriented setting
Willingness to continue learning to adapt to technology and production processes to further assist the APAC production team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Google software (including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Mail and Drive) - budgeting software such as Movie Magic is an advantage but not essential
Excellent verbal and written English, fluency in other languages spoken across the region will be an advantage
Hiring local teams, technical / freelance crew during shoots as needed
