AIG’s underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas including life insurance, aviation, financial lines, casualty, environmental, catastrophic events, high net worth individuals, and boardroom liabilities.
Your contribution at AIG You will be responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of AIG’s Singapore Accident and Health business (A&H) with accountability for product and underwriting control, risk, segmentation and implementation of best practices.
With a strong focus on profitable growth, you will drive strategies in collaboration with distribution, claims, pricing, portfolio management, operations and other cross-
functional teams. Delivering sustainable bottom line results while continuing to innovate from both product and underwriting standpoint will define your success in this exciting role.
As a Leader, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and / or ability to oversee programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset.
Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes. Duties and Responsibilities Act as leader and decision maker for all A&H business for Singapore Support the local business in the development, implementation, and execution of A&H strategies Develop top and bottom line budgets supported by necessary business plans to achieve desired results Establish policy and best practices for A&H business in accordance with the AIG A&H strategies for Singapore Coordinate with the regional / country actuaries to assure timely rate reviews, ongoing pricing and segmentation initiatives Seek opportunities to improve synergies and cross sell activities between product towers, distribution channels and companies within the AIG Group Facilitate and promote all cross-
selling and up-selling initiatives for the benefit of AIG and to meet customers’ total insurance needs Lead the A&H product development process to stay ahead of the market Manage all distribution channels to assure maximum penetration of target segments Develop new business opportunities through the identification of alternative distribution channels Work with local controller regarding all financial reporting and analytics with respect to A&H business (i.
e. budgets, monthly / quarterly estimates / results, direct and indirect expense reviews) Coordinate with Claims management to develop Claim Benchmarks and monitor the key measurements which affect A&H business Promote the implementation of portfolio management amongst the underwriting team to effectively manage bottom line results Assure underwriting best practices and perform underwriting audits , where applicable Represent A&H interests in the Internal Audit process Play an active role in the development, negotiation, and sign off of risks which are outside of the local underwriter’s authority Assure the compliance of local statutory / regulatory requirements As a great manager you will provide direction, motivate and grow talent, and empower and coach teams toward higher levels of performance.
What we are looking for An extensive proven background in A&H underwriting, product management, financial management and / or portfolio management A candidate with a wealth of experience in the Singapore market with respect to consumer insurance products (with emphasis on supplemental health) will be preferred.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with an ability to challenge, adapt to change and deal with ambiguity. Proven record in providing direction, motivating and growing employees to drive high levels of performance.
