Approach to work
The expectation of an intern is all about having a can-do attitude, being open and responsive to learning; trying new things, lending a hand, contributing your point of view and becoming one of the team .
Day to day responsibilities
1) Media monitoring & social listening research monitoring and analysis
Compilation of reading and scanning news sources to find coverage and relevant stories for current and new clients, as directed and briefed by manager
Keeping abreast with all updates around news for clients (scanning papers, reviewing coverage appearing online)
Monitor clients online and use of tools provided, each morning, as needed
Support Manager with media research, as needed
Be able to provide a point of view and understand the rationale behind the report
Gain an understanding of the capabilities and practice use of media & listening tools
Practice pulling together a list of appropriate keywords and categories for each task
2) Community management support & writing
With guidance from your manager you will be exposed to writing everything from pitch emails, media-worthy story angles, liaising with influencers and helping to craft social media community responses (as required)
Monitor client social media pages, flagging queries and working under management, craft, post responses during heavy campaign periods (clients such as Dominos and BlueSG)
Be able to respond to fan posts / messages across various scenarios pre-defined
Be able to recognize and flag potential crisis scenarios or even individuals that might have an impact on the brand
Become familiar in using community management tools / clients such as Hootsuite, Sprinklr, etc. as and required
3) Internal Project Management
Be able to manage a workflow internally around tasks allocated
Being an active participant in brainstorms and group work
4) Chief researcher / reporter (ad hoc projects and briefs)
Conduct detailed and insightful desk research, as required, to help inform teams about the detail and background of a brief and project from research you will conduct through being curious
Gain an understanding through working with teams to get exposure to how to define the role communication plays when it comes to crafting meaningful stories for clients / to media / to influencers / to peers
