Created in January 2014, the Data Innovation Lab (DIL) acts for the Group as a business-focused center of expertise on data analytics to foster R&D for AXA’s offers and services.

The DIL supports AXA entities’ big data projects by acting as an accelerator to carry out pilots and drives the creation of technological platforms to ease the operational roll-

out. We have gathered both the latest data science tools and a team of experts in innovation, data and data science.

The DIL’s key mission is to help AXA entities become data - driven companies by contributing to build technological platforms, acting as a technological hub towards external to explore the technological opportunities for insurance business.

Its approach for supporting entities’ projects relies on 4 principles : Entrepreneurial spirit , Fail fast , Agile and Learning by doing .

We strengthen the team extending our activity in Singapore and we are looking for a Business Project Manager directly reporting to the Head of AXA DIL ASIA who plays a crucial role in embodying the data science for the area, in contributing to promote data science topics through the local entities, helping entities in integrating data science in their organization (developing activities and attracting / hiring people).

As Business Project Manager, you are in charge of leading projects and providing approaches, methods and tools which will fuel the ambition of becoming a data driven company.

The Business Project Manager especially identifies the good or Best practices which could be relevant for DIL initiatives.

The Business Project Manager has also a primary key role for leading projects on the field. The proven experience of the Business Project Manager will especially help him in driving a portfolio of projects (clustered around the same platform) and / or to lead projects involving external partners who could play a central role in the project.

We need a true team player who brings his experience in data driven business transformation into the community, mixing strong analytical skills with a proven ability to communicate to senior executives, to interact with all DIL teams and to lead projects on the field.

A glimpse of your daily mission :

1. Responsible for identifying and building a starting block for Big Data Projects

The Business Project Manager is in charge of identifying the value which can be extracted from the advanced use of data, be they internal or external, as soon as the project involves Data approaches.

One common denominator of all DIL projects is the need to extract and transfer data from the entities databases and load them in the DIL environment or install IT capabilities in the IT Landscape of the entities.

The Business Project Manager has to address those major steps and elaborate on the lessons learnt from the first projects launched.

The Project Manager will particularly focus on the following subjects, at DIL ASIA and entity levels :

Identify and describe the main data sources,

Propose and select the appropriate strategy for Data extraction : focus and selection a sub-set vs All data extraction, taking into account the Data privacy and binding corporate rules.

Define or describe the frequency of extraction and refresh, how to load updated information.

Propose patterns for internal data segmentation (accuracy, freshness,) and external data sourcing.

Ensure integration into the DIL Master Data Model and propose relevant improvements.

2. Accountable for delivering Projects

The Business Project Manager manages projects of the DIL ASIA portfolio of initiatives. She / He will be in charge of projects involving external partners for core capabilities or objectives of the project.

He / she :

Guarantees the perfect alignment of the project and the strategic objectives of the initiative, and proposes scope or priorities modifications to ensure this alignment,

Manages the various Stakeholders, at Group and Entity levels, and actively communicates on the scope, quality and budget if any of these criteria are at stake.

Proactively monitors the projects, from the perspective of their regular assessment by the supervisory board, produces reports, proposes and organizes demonstrations and communication of the project.

  • Reports financial KPIs throughout the year (monitoring, forecasting and budgeting all project expenditure) and participates in the budgetary planning process;
  • Consolidates potential DIL topics by performing preliminary studies on the feasibility, the risks and the potential outputs;
  • She / He proposes ways to handle each topic;
  • Identify the risks and opportunities of a portfolio of projects, especially analyzing internal and external concerns raised by running those projects in parallel (resources, technology, providers).

    Ensure maximum capitalization and re-use of projects involving external partners for core capabilities, e.g. proper documentation of the key steps of the project and ensure capitalization.

    Successful qualifier of this mission :

    Technical and professional skills

    Scientific or Business education (Business School, Engineering school, or similar education or experience).

    Strong ability to understand and define what is feasible in the short term and what requires long-term researches in the data transformation journey.

    Knowledge in mathematics, algorithmic and databases to enable in depth understanding and detailed analysis with all DIL team members).

    Professional experience in Project Management, ideally mixing theoretical experience and global Project Management, with a particular taste for leading complex projects in a changing environment.

    English - Fluent in speaking and writing.

    Soft skills

    Proven experience in Stakeholder Management.

    Good relational capabilities necessary to contribute to complex projects in a decentralized environment, involving many persons and skills through influencing strategies, expressing conviction and aligning the visions.

    Pronounced taste for working into pluridisciplinary team

    Autonomy, curiosity and innovation capability

    Not afraid of unclear and ambiguous situations with a need to invent the path for success

    Talent for communication (written and oral) and team working

  • Leadership capability for community creation
  • Experience

    7 to 10 years of professional experience, of which 3 to 5 years of strong professional experience being in charge of Projects Portfolio, Program Management and Project Management.

    Experienced in working in an international environment.
