Job Description

The position holds a direct responsibility for the following activities :

Accounting & Controls

  • Handle accounting of overhead invoices, office and staff travel expenses, ensuring timely posting, accurate P&L account allocation and appropriate treatment with regards to indirect taxes
  • Process payment of overhead invoices and expenses, ensuring that they are properly validated and authorized according to delegation of authority schedule and paid well in time of agreed due dates
  • Assist in monthly closing of TGPA accounts, including : Prepare overhead accrualsUpdate fixed asset register and calculate fixed asset depreciationPrepare reconciliations of bank accounts and other key balance sheet accountsClear outstanding items in aged credit and debit
  • Reporting

  • Assist in preparation of management accounts and reports
  • Prepare quarterly GST returns and government statistics reports (where applicable)
  • Banking / Treasury

  • Assist in reconciliation of bank accounts, both with external banks and Total Treasury
  • Others

  • Support the Financial Controller in ad-hoc projects
  • Context and environment

    The position covers a wide spectrum of activities ranging from accounting and financial reporting to Treasury.

    The key relationships associated with this role are with the commercial teams in the Singapore office as well as the finance teams of London office.

    In particular, the position holder must be able to manage a good working relationship with the London office of Gas & Power Trading in spite of the significant distance and time difference between the two offices.

    Candidate profile

    The job holder should be in their penultimate year of their accounting degree studies from local universities are encouraged to apply.

    Knowledge of double entry book-keeping, business accounting and proficiency in Excel would be an advantage.

    The job holder should be adaptable and able to manage varying priorities. Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team are also important.

    Fluency in English is a must while the ability to read and write in Mandarin would be an advantage.

    Available for a consecutive 10 week internship from May to July or June to August.
