The Manager Production (Region) is a member of the Regional Production Team. This team combines all functions that enable and support the Regional Head and the Heads of Sales and Handlings in maintaining safety, security and quality of all warehouse and aircraft handling activity in the Region at economical cost levels.
She or he is responsible for achieving production targets (qualitative and quantitative) as defined by the Head of Production, Region, and in accordance with the global Lufthansa Cargo AG production framework (Lufthansa Cargo AG production system, Cargo Handling Manual and standards).
Local / Regional Specifics
She or he ensures that processes laid out by the process owner are complied with and coordinates any structurally required process improvements and adjustments between station, Heads of Sales and Handling and Process Owner.
Within the targets set by the Head of Production, Region, she or he is responsible for a subset of the following portfolio of tasks in varying weighting :
Warehouse and Aircraft Handling :
Ensuring the maintenance of a production framework (cargo and aircraft handling, Road Feeder Service) in the Region and all Heads of Sales and Handling s which provides safety, security and quality in accordance with the global Lufthansa Cargo AG production framework (Lufthansa Cargo AG production system, Cargo Handling Manual and standards).
Implementation of digitization strategy in production in coordination with Global Handling Management.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant internal and external regulations.
Active contribution to the further development of Lufthansa Cargo AG's worldwide production processes in cooperation with Global Handling Management in the frame of the Lufthansa Cargo AG process house.
Preparation if the investment budget for handling locations and monitoring of the budget.
Monitoring of handling cost targets and achievements,
Providing counseling and advice to the Heads of Sales and Handling’s on special topics.
Acting as the Regional contact point for Aircraft / Cargo handling surveillance and security together with the Heads of Sales and Handling.
Implementation and achievement of all relevant quality and process Key Performance Indicators including data quality at all locations in the Region,
Where applicable : execution of L-level responsibilities
Procurement / Supplier Management :
Evaluation and selection of external partners (especially, for handling services) in collaboration with the central procurement department, according to the relevant procurement processes.
Management of the existing supplier portfolio in cooperation with local and central stakeholders, including regular analysis of quality and cost performance as well as risk aspects of the defined suppliers;
creating, negotiating and monitoring of structural (improvement) developments; and defining long-term strategies / roadmaps for major suppliers.
Close cooperation with central procurement in further developing Supplier Relationships Management, for example, evaluation frameworks, and commodity / sourcing strategies.
Coordination activities :
Regular contact to the sales units in order to understand customer requirements and collaborate on high customer satisfaction.
Coordination of training activities according to the company regulations in cooperation with Germany for Warehouse and Aircraft Handling employees and partners.
Performs all other duties assigned or delegated by superiors.
Local / Regional Specifics (up to 30%) :
Development of regional production concepts and initiatives.
Production Information Technology and Messaging management / coordination.
Active participation in production related projects, initiated either regionally or globally by the Process Owner.
Experience and Qualifications :
Master or bachelor’s degree with min. 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in the logistics or airline industry.
Good working knowledge of Lufthansa Cargo's production processes and organization. Alternatively, excellent knowlegde of comparable international airline / logistics industry structures.
For Procurement / Supplier Management tasks desired relevant work experience of several years in procurement function.
Willingness to travel.
Fluency in spoken and written English, basic German knowledge will be highly desirable, but not required.
