The National Institute of Education (NIE) invites applications for the position of Learning Designer in the Centre for Innovation in Learning.
This is a 2-year contract position.
o Conduct analysis of intended audience, course content, technological and media requirements.
o Use constructive alignment principles to propose enhanced / new learning objectives, learning activities and assessments.
o Present the proposed pedagogically sound (grounded in learning theories) design solution to project team and stakeholders.
o Work in cross-functional teams to design and develop learning materials in accordance with proposed design.
o Consult with Senior Learning Designers regarding learning strategies, blended design, and course requirements that impact the learning needs and learning solutions initiatives.
o Design and deliver tech-enhanced pedagogical workshops for faculty, pre-service and in-service teachers.
o Scan for emerging technologies and evaluate the pedagogical affordances.
o Demonstrate solid interpersonal and communication skills that enable successful internal and external cooperation in a variety of modes including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, virtual meetings, and written communication.
o Participate in special projects as required.
Education, Experience and Expertise
o A University Degree.
o At least 2 years of related instructional design and development experience.
o Good knowledge of adult learning theory and design thinking and how to apply these theories in the design of blended learning experiences.
o Good knowledge on learning management system as well as course and learner evaluation methodology.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to work on your own and with diverse teams.
o Ability to learn new tools and processes quickly with little guidance or support documentation.
o Understanding of agile methodology and ability to handle multiple priorities in a very fluid working environment.
o Strong project management skills with experience in all phases of the instructional design process.
o Meticulous in work details.
o Analytical and possess good creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
o High proficiency and productivity in G Suite tools, including Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.
