CMP Process Optimization through Cost Reduction to improve Operational Efficiency
Description : Cost is one of the important aspects in improving organization competitiveness. In this project, students will have the hands-on opportunity to work on the optimization of various CMP processes, as well as the evaluation of alternative equipment parts / materials, working together with other departments to reduce operating costs.
Scope : The student will assist to perform process characterization for CMP equipment over their lifetime as well as to evaluate their new maximum lifetime.
There will also be collaboration with the process & equipment engineers to develop and enhance process control methods to improve process capability and stability.
The student will learn how to use statistical tools and fab-specific software for fab operations / datamining; as well as perform Design of Experiments (DOE) to determine optimal process / equipment parameters.
In addition, the student will have an opportunity to work with engineers from other departments and vendors during the evaluation of other equipment parts / materials.
Deliverable : To characterize data of tunable parameters from CMP equipment parts across their lifetime, and thereafter identify opportunities and innovative ideas to improve the current operational and cost efficiency of CMP processes without compromising on quality.
