Job Summary (RoleSummary)

Supportthe VP & Head of M&A, Corporate Finance in defining and implementingM&A processes for IHG in partnership with the regions and the strategyteam.

Work closely with, and providesupport to senior management in relationship to all M&A activity and leads.Build a network of both internal and externalrelationships, in order to create action on identified targets, carry outfeasibility assessments and assist in execution of deals where required.

Take an active role in supporting IHG’s brandpartnership and alliances strategies through the construction and negotiationof contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (KeyActivities)

  • Work with the Head of M&A to develop asystematic global process for assessing and executing all IHG’s M&Aactivity.
  • Partner with the strategy and regional / functional teams to implement these processes, ensuring accountabilities aredefined and the appropriate rigour and discipline is followed at all times.
  • Become established as the primary contactfor assisting with any M&A related queries from within IHG, escalating tothe VP & Head of M&A where necessary.
  • Build strong global relationships andensure regular contact is maintained with regional / functional contacts toensure up to date knowledge of the status of all M&A activity.
  • Prepare regular updates to seniormanagement / the Executive Committee / Board summarizing the status of M&Aactivity across the Group.
  • Provide support in building plans toproactively engage with targets based on the strategic ambitions of the group;working with CEO, CFO, Chairman and Regional Presidents as necessary.
  • Based on desired strategic ambitions,assist with building plans to proactively engage with targets and own key partsof this agenda in conjunction with CEO, CFO, Chairman and Regions.
  • Build key relationships with global / UKbased M&A bankers.
  • Active involvement in transactions whereappropriate; work closely with regional resources and support regional deals.
  • Support corporate development team inconstructing and executing partnership and JV agreements.
  • Education

    Degreeeducated or equivalent. Highly numerate,a relevant finance post-degree qualification is desirable; otherwise ademonstrated knowledge of financial modeling techniques is required.

    Experience -

    10 years in progressivework experience in finance, or at a corporate level with exposure to a broadrange of business issues at a global level with a proven track record.

    Travel industry experience is highly desirable.

    Interpersonal and Technical Skills -

  • Highlevel of intellectual rigour and analytical track record.
  • Flexibilityto react to situations as they arise and ability to act quickly andcollaboratively under pressure to ensure productive outcomes.
  • Teamplayer with highly developed interpersonal skills able to work well with andbuild a network of relationships across the Group globally.
  • Ableto gain and use credibility at all levels within the Group, including Boardmembers.
  • Ableto gain and use credibility with external stakeholders / professional advisers.
  • Strongand persuasive communication skills, both verbal and written to address alllevels both within and outside the organization.
  • Effectivefacilitation skills to lead meetings and dialogues with senior management
  • Financialmodeling / analysis (DCF, NPV, accounting) and robust finance principles.
  • Insightfulunderstanding of hotel industry dynamics.
  • Demonstratedproject management experience in organising, planning and executing large scaleprojects from conception through implementation.
  • Proficiencyin sourcing external data comprehensive external data sources and ability touse them effectively to reach key conclusions.
  • Strongself-motivation and ability to plan time or priorities.
