The incumbent will enable increased sales and market share in the wireless operator segment by providing pre-sales support to customers and VIAVI teams for VIAVI’s solutions for these markets, including TeraVM, TM500 and CA5G.
Pre-sales support to APJ sales teams and customers respectively, by applying solid Mobile Core (3G / 4G) experience. Pre-sales support involves understanding and articulating customer’s challenges, positioning of VIAVI’s portfolio to address those challenges and technically advancing the discussions to the point of a commercial engagement.
What are the main responsibilities / duties?
Understand customer needs and applications, apply the insights to position VIAVI products to meet customer needs
Performing demonstrations, proofs of concepts and trials to validate our solution fit to customers
Interoperability testing of VIAVI Solutions Wireless and customer equipment.
Work closely with VIAVI Solutions product units, R&D teams and regional teams to resolve customers’ technical issues.
Build and maintain close relationships with key customers.
Customers are primarily located in APJ Region, though some travel to other regions will be required.
Accountabilities will include but not limited to :
Conduct technical discussions, demonstrations and trials to prove VIAVI’s product benefits to customers. Work closely with both our customer base and the product development team to qualify new features requested by our customers.
Collection of technical requirements from the customer for future enhancement of the product.
Work with sales teams to position and develop sales strategies to meet business objectives.
Key Skills / Competencies
Must have strong understanding of wireless technologies including 4G and 5G, including measurements related to RF and wireless.
Good understanding of a wireless operator’s environment and operational challenges for RAN and Core
Strong L4-L7 protocol experience with basic understanding of L2 / L3 experience with knowledge of common routing and switching protocols would be added advantage.
Ability to analyze customer network topologies and ability to trouble-shoot, identify and solve problems.
Knowledge of 3G 4G and emerging 5G Network topologies and components and procedures.Knowledge of and experience with real-life customer issues.
Knowledge and experience with Test Automation through either TCL, Python, Perl would be added advantage, as will . hands on experience in Linux operating system.
Strong verbal, written and customer communication skills.
Ability to work on own initiative and develop as SME
Work in a sales environment as member of extended sales team.
Qualification and Experience
The successful candidate should possess a Degree (BSc / BEng) or be able to demonstrate comparable suitable experience in an Electronic and Communications engineering subject.
At least 4 years of working experience in related industry, with exposure to wireless base station testing in operator or lab environmentsUnderstanding of and experience with measuring instruments such as spectrum analyzers.
Experience in Mobile Core Service Provider Environments EPC Components and procedures, MMS, S-GW, P-GW, HSS and interfaces.
Also 3G GGSN, SGSN, Gn, IuPS etc. would be an added bonus.
