1) Engine Room Equipment and Systems and Utilities Operation and Maintenance

1 Prepare Engine Room and Utility Systems for start-up.

2 Start and Monitor Engine Room and Utility Systems

3 Prepare and Shutdown Engine Room and Utility Systems

4 Isolate and re-instate Engine Room and Utility Systems for Maintenance

2) Manage And Supervise Effectively

1 Establish effective relationships with colleagues and subcontractors.

2 Implement scope of work clearly (briefings, toolbox talks, presentations.)

3 Plan and control use of resources effectively. (Personnel, time, materials, transport, IT) within limit of responsibility

4 Use of communication skills shows leadership (oral, teambuilding, recording, noting, handover, analysing).

5 Contribute to On Job Training of subordinates

3) Contribute to control of critical situations and respond to emergencies

1 Developing critical situations (operational, weather, equipment failure, leaks, fires, personnel etc) are identified

and logged for later analysis

2 Positive action is taken to limit escalation and to maintain control using applied policies or procedures or

initiative

3 Supervisor / CCR / OIM are alerted in good time as appropriate

4) Monitor and Maintain Pollution Control Measures

1 Sample and check that controlled process discharges from area of responsibility to the environment are within

prescribed limits

2 Identify and halt unplanned discharges where possible, and reported immediately according to policy, procedure

and regulation.

3 Equipment, waste or other materials for disposal are dealt with according to the correct procedure

4 Resources such as PPE materials tools and spares are not wasted or used inefficiently

5) Emergency Response

1 Perform Emergency Response role

2 Show competence during drills and exercises

Pre-hire Qualifications and Experience

1. Qualified to EOOW STCW Reg AIII / 1

2. At least 1-year experience as Watch keeping Marine Engineer (steam turbine watch keeping experience preferable).

3. VLCC experience preferred.

4. Medically fit to offshore International standards such as ENG1 or equivalent.

Personal : Conscientious. Capable of assertive and positive communication and performance.

Leadership : Good safety and supervisory attitude. Good levels of written and spoken communication in English

language. Clear understanding of personnel behavioural and team issues.

Technical : Appropriate standard of supervisory, technical, and professional knowledge as defined by

competences.

IT : Practical familiarity with standard ’Office’ software

packagelectronic. mail system. Familiarity with Maintenance Management System packages

AMOS / Maximo etc.
