Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Biopharmaceutical Leader to drive our key growth and investment initiative in our AMEA market.

The ideal candidate will possess technical domain experience in biopharmaceutical production and will have established relationships with key customers in the AMEA market.

The primary objective of this position is to facilitate the organizational strategy development / tracking, alliance and budget management, and to lead program management function for Biopharma in core markets in AMEA.

This position seeks a matrix leader who will manage integrated planning and coordination of Business Development (BD) opportunities through functional, cross-

divisional, corporate and board-level review and approval for successful BD transactions.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

  • Lead the BioPharma P&L across sub-regions. Develop and implement strategies to meet the needs of our customers, and to set program priorities and resources accordingly.
  • Identify and target the key segments / customers (Biopharmaceutical’s, Cell & Gene Therapy). Shortlist new manufacturing lines and tracking the funnel of drawings to orders.
  • Partner with global team on new product launch, training, forecasting, supply chain, marketing materials (branding, brochures, customer focused presentations).
  • Utilize a variety of project and portfolio management tools to inform and sustain high-performing cross-functional performance, including timeline management, issue-
  • risk management, and stakeholder management. Work across groups to ensure business development is leveraging best practices aligned with key customers.

  • Develop and review project service agreements in collaboration with our legal and finance departments and with the external partners.
  • Facilitate meetings and coordinate activities to enable the partnering process, build relationships, and enhance Avantor’s reputation as a preferred partner.
  • Establish regular communication across a matrix of collaborators to build credibility, trust, and respect and support future strategic partnering activities for BioPharma.
  • Develop an understanding of customer requirements and objectives.

  • Manage multiple key customers, work closely together with the cross functional leadership team and monitor deliverables to assure quality and timely completion of the projects.
  • Develop project scope, budgetary plans, resource allocation, schedule, and dashboard to measure success.
  • Prepare materials for internal and external presentations, Gantt charts to plan and manage project schedule / critical path activities, and resources.
  • Track budget utilization of all active projects to keep BioPharma leadership and Avantor cross functions current.
  • Recruit and oversee BioPharma talent and development strategies
  • QUALIFICATIONS (Education / Training, Experience and Certifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree, and MS, MBA, PhD, PharmD or other advanced degree in a physical or natural science
  • 10 or more years’ experience in the Biopharmaceutical industry or similar.
  • This position requires familiarity with drug development and commercialization, and excellent oral and written skills.
  • 5 years of biopharma-industry project management or operations experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence, negotiate, and drive organizational engagement with executive-level stakeholders.
