PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are looking for a transformational designer who will play a key role in Dairy Farm’s success by delivering outstanding concept designs that reflect the spirit of our diverse Brands.
Your primary mission is to create new innovative formats and conceptual designs for the Dairy Farm brands. Your role encompasses collaboration cross-functionally with various business units, oversight of holistic design process;
inclusive of all phases of design from schematic through construction documents and administration; while honouring budget, schedule and operational requirements.

You have a sophisticated understanding of the interplay of Brand - Design Communication. You are able to balance design, with operational needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional projects, have the ability to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines.
You can clearly communicate your ideas in visual, written and verbal communication. You can manoeuvre complex and ambiguous situations and are able to flex within the context of changing priorities.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE TRANSFORMATIONAL DESIGN LEADERSHIP
Lead the creation of new conceptual design ideas working with consumer insights teams and other cross functional groups across the organization to elevate design.
Research and stay ahead of trends in the relevant industries of design, H&B retail, food retail and innovation in materials and construction in order to elevate
Partner and inspire project teams of internal designers and external consultants of various experience levels in a hands-on, positive, and engaged manner which responds to the business aspirations of the brand.
Collaborate with other designers in a strong creative studio culture that encourages open discourse and critical thinking.
Practice a holistic integration of Industrial and Spatial Design disciplines and principles (industrial design, architecture and interiors)
Provides clear, effective and timely communication of direction and alignment to / for team members.
MANAGEMENT OF INNOVATION PROJECTS
Execute new concept development, innovation testing in identified test stores working with field design teams to capture learnings.
Direct responsibility for the functional layout, schematic design, and furniture / material / finish palettes
Participate in sourcing of new and innovative materials, vendors, equipment and processes to support new designs.
Identify and communicate key design concepts, target deliverables and responsibilities.
Participate in schematic reviews with Leadership, Cross-Functional business owners
Oversees the Q / A of any outsourced deliverables.
Participate in creation of template, playbook, and blueprint documentation to inform field team project execution.
TEAM BUILDING & DEVELOPMENT
Set a high bar for design, understand and clearly articulate vision to project teams.
Understand, identify and clearly communicate key responsibilities to external team of consultants, suppliers and vendors.
Challenge and inspire internal and external teams to achieve excellence in design.
Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design and / or a related field of study.
At least 4 to 7 years of experience in multiunit Retail, Hospitality or Restaurant Design or Development organization including management of construction documents
Experience in furniture and fixture design, industrial design and manufacturing or related field.
Design experience in international markets, Asia a plus.
At least 3 to 4 years of experience managing external architectural and / or design consultants
Working knowledge of building and health codes and compliance issues.
Current knowledge of industry trends in retail store and grocery design including fixtures, furniture and finishes.
Ability and working knowledge of colour, materiality, foundational design principles.
Knowledge of CAD / Revit Drafting, 3D visualization via Sketchup (VRAY, Rhino, etc.)
