Supply Chain Program Manager (Assistant Technical Manager) offers technical solutions (solutions related to engineering, design, mechanical, methods, etc.
in the packaging field, to offer packaging solutions to internal or external customer’s requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conceptualize design and develop cost-effective packaging that meets consumer requirement for the protection, display, and handling of products
Design packaging solution to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements, and the type of protection required while considering the need for resistance to such external variables as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling, and tampering.
Designing functional packaging such corrugated and protective foam packaging; and incorporates other materials (i.e. outsourced plastic display components, snap-
rivets, blister or thermoformed items, chipboard, etc.) as relevant and necessary
Researches industry practices and recommends new and innovative logistic packaging procedures
Advise customers on efficient packing procedures, innovations in packaging materials, and utilization of sealing and fastening devices and manage packaging project from concept to final approval
Troubleshoot with Customer and Sales on packaging related issues.
Develop packaging project plan, project management cost, packaging cost, testing cost and propose to Business Unit.
Manage project review meetings with cross-functional teams related to package selection and manufacturing feasibility and conducts risk assessment, assesses test results and provides sound design recommendations.
Proactively engage and challenge vendors and suppliers in open innovation to find cost effective, quality materials for the designed packaging concept to be manufactured.
Develop test protocol and supervise testing with testing partners
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
5 7 years working experience in structural and non-structural packaging design for electronics products such as servers, racks, computers, cell phones, printers, watches, led lamps, etc.
and their components as PCBAs, plastic covers, metals, cables, batteries, etc.
Knowledgeable and experienced in packaging materials properties and applications such as wood, foam, flexible packaging, inflatable packaging, returnable packaging, medical packaging, bulk packaging, retail packaging (Pretty boxes), ESD packaging, packaging for metal and plastic components.
Knowledgeable and experienced in packaging materials manufacturing processes, machineries used, tooling, materials tolerances such as thermoforming, blowing, die cutting, heat bond, printing, corrugated process, foam transforming, wood working, etc
Knowledgeable of Freight volume calculation to load optimization, packaging materials costs and assembly cost estimation
Strong knowledge and hands on experience in drafting packaging test protocol and supervising packaging test compliance to ASTM / ISTA testing requirement
Strong knowledge and understanding of IATA (International Air Transport Association) standards related to packaging transportation, regulations, RoHS, REACH, etc
Must possess a working knowledge of 3D CAD, Microsoft Office. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc
Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail. Excellent oral / written communication skills, excellent customer relation skills, and well developed presentation skill to clearly and promote packaging concepts, transmit ideas.
Ability to work independently and strong team player
Candidate should be bilingual in English and Mandarin as the successful candidate needs to liaise with suppliers in China
Travel is required
