This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the HQ Finance as an Associate Chartered Accountant in MCC Transport. HQ Finance is the focal point for management reporting, external reporting, financial information and forecasting and budgeting.

As an Associate Chartered Accountant, you will work with multiple aspects of financial reporting, process and system optimization, financial planning and analysis as well as communication towards management.

You will be working together with a pool of highly skilled and talented people in an international environment.

Key responsibilities

As part of the HQ Finance Team,, you will be active involved in driving quality reporting and support cross functions teams through proactiveness and effective communication.


  • Actively drive the future strategic direction of MCC through sparring with management and internal stakeholders
  • Accountable for timely and high quality accounting, financial reporting, analysis and metrics to key stakeholders, driving one set of numbers across all financial reports
  • Ensure compliance in accounting, tax, audit and legal regulatory boards.
  • Accountable for timely and high quality accounting, financial reporting, analysis and metrics to key stakeholders
  • Own and provide financial information and expertise to inform and challenge the organizational strategy
  • Involve in business performance, continuous productivity improvements and standardization across the organizational area
  • Provide solutions to support business decisions, investment plans and annual budget / forecasting process
  • Foster strong relationships with the business by establishing a customer service culture
  • Accountable for the analysis and interpretation of financial information to produce forecasts of business, industry and economic conditions
  • Coach the organization to increase financial awareness in their approach to business decisions
  • Statutory & Tax and Accounting

  • Drives error free accounting and accurate reporting with GSC.
  • Drive reduction in balance sheet exposure.
  • Advise & coach GSC on IFR accounting & tax.
  • Monitor compliance with local fiscal and statutory requirements in relation to GSC performance.
  • Proactively ensures that nothing falls between chairs by ensuring coordination between GSC, internal teams (such as HR, Region Tax, etc.
  • and 3rd parties (such as pay-roll provider, Auditors, Tax provider, etc.).

  • Manages risk exposure of the outsourced finance tasks to 3rd party consultants towards the company.
  • Ensure our local statutory reporting and tax declarations are compliant with tax law and filed on time.
  • Support the Regional Tax Manager in proactively managing any potential risks and exposures.
  • Act as local focal point for auditors, with guidance from GSC.
  • Represent the company in meetings with the tax authority, supported as required by the Regional Tax Manager and / or Centre Tax.
  • Drive E2E claims accounting and process with GSC, global claim and countries for smooth and transparent claims reporting.
  • Legal & Advisory

  • Liaises with other organisations, industry and regulatory authorities as needed to form advisory.
  • Review and ensure legal sign-off of templates (e.g. : various advisories to customers / vendors)
  • Ensure and potentially provide contractual templates are prudent and legal compliant (e.g. : SLAs).
  • Ensure POA, board resolutions and ad-hoc legal documentation from countries and local statutory.
  • Ensure transfer pricing documentation is maintained and reviewed regularly in compliance with local regulatory.
  • Support queries from authorities, countries by proactively liaising with contract governance and center legal departments.
  • Additional responsibilities to consider

  • Local Bank focal point
  • Entry and focal point for finance related ad hoc projects.
  • Address on-demand business issues.
  • We are looking for

    We are looking for a professional individual who can challenge the status quo at all levels of the organization.

  • M.Sc in Finance / Accounting, CPA or the like, graduating in top of the class
  • Minimum 7 years of working experience within finance functions, with >
  • 5 years of experience in accounting and / or auditing

  • Minimum 5 years of experience from working within the shipping industry, preferably with experience and insight from country / cluster organizations as well as geographical coverage of MCC
  • Track record in driving high performance through teams
  • Advanced Excel experience at super-user level
  • Skilled in written and spoken English
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills being able to work with both management and employees in a large organization
  • Self-starter with a high motivation level to take on new tasks and ensure timely and successful execution
