The English Language and Literature Academic Group (ELL) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore is committed to high-
quality research and innovative teaching in the areas of Linguistics, Literature, and English Teacher Education. We are an international department and pride ourselves on having a research culture that embraces diversity and multidisciplinary perspectives.
English language and linguistics faculty members are engaged in research in a wide variety of areas including but not limited to oracy, discourse studies, World Englishes, critical literacy, reading, bilingualism and language policy.
Literature and literature education faculty are active in various research fields including 18th and 19th Century British literature, Singapore literature, global Anglophone literatures, popular culture, literature pedagogy and cosmopolitanism in education.
Focusing on authentic learning and the theory-practice nexus in education, we are committed to developing and mentoring critically engaged, socially responsible, knowledgeable, and passionate English teachers for the 21st Century classroom.
The ELL AG invites qualified applicants to apply for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position, specialising in Communication Skills and English for Academic Purposes.
Applicants should have :
a relevant doctorate degree from a university of good international standing,
an established record of excellent teaching in relevant areas at the tertiary level,
experience in designing, teaching, and managing courses in Communication Skills and English for Academic Purposes,
a familiarity with ICT application in teaching,
experience of teaching different profiles of students, e.g. students from across different disciplines,
experience of research in relevant areas,
administrative / leadership experience in coordinating large courses and teaching teams.
Successful candidates will be expected to :
contribute to teaching and course development at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as related activities such as the supervision of teaching practice,
engage in research and maintain a publication record,
undertake administrative and / or leadership roles and to contribute to other service-related activities at the academic group or institution level.
