The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Associate on a 16-month contract at the Early Childhood and Special Needs Education Academic Group.
Project Title : Supporting Assistive Technology for Individuals and Stakeholders : Facilitating Acquisition and Providing Service
Project Introduction : Assistive technologies are concerned with helping individuals with disabilities to enhance each individual’s unique area of needs to improve outcomes.
This project seeks to assist stakeholders and individuals with disabilities on assistive technology needs from consideration to acquisition.
The aims of the project are :
1.To identify the considerations involved in determining assistive technology needs relating to perspectives from users, teachers, parents and therapists.
2.To develop a tool kit to assist in the assistive technology decision-making process thereby helping stakeholders make more informed choices.
3.Upon development of the tool kit, to seek feedback to finalize the tool kit with users.
We are looking for a dynamic and responsible individual to meet the primary research needs of the project.
A Master’s degree (outstanding applicants with Bachelors degree with honours will also be considered) Experience and interest in project management, technology, support for students with disabilities is a plus Able to design survey questions and conduct surveys Possesses experience in data collection Able to conduct interviews and transcribe scripts Able to carry out literature review Able to write reports and academic papers At least 3 years professional experience preferably in the field of education, research and analysis Have excellent organisational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Project management Liaising with partners Design survey and interview questions Conduct surveys and interviews Data collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data Review literature and summarize key findings Draft reports and research papers Perform any other work as assigned by the project team members
